The First Works

Complete With All the Mistakes New Writers Make!
This area contains all of the first stories I wrote when I was first began this journey over 20 years ago. They are 99% in their original form: only a few secret edits out of shame. These were penned from the ages of 17-20 and, fair warning, they're kinda trash. 😅😂 I made all the typical mistakes of a new writer, and you'll be able to see them immediately, all while still enjoying some entertaining works. Some of these stories I'm "resurrecting" with my established writing style, so there will be times and spaces where I'll discuss the improvements to plot, character, and sentence structure, as well as the "whys" of it all. Until then, enjoy being a Garbage Pail Kid.

Why Ask Why?

Poor guy. He’s got so many questions, but he’s asking them at the wrong time.

As he ponders the meaning of life, love, and circumstance, a twisted tale of betrayal and revenge unwind around him.

Asking “Why?” isn’t always the problem,  it seems. It’s the actions that result from the answer that are so goddamned problematic.

Cringe: Level Three

Teeth-gritting, eye-shutting awkwardness

The Wild Walk

A wild tale of the unbelievable things a young man sees and experiences on his walk through New York.

I never mention in the story that he’s a Black man, but I feel like it changes the perspective when it comes to the reactions of seeing some of these insane things.

Despite its high cringe level, I plan to do a sequel as an ode to the global shutdowns after the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Something about seeing those empty sidewalks of Times Square just got me inspired.
